There is something magical about this place and I consider it one of my favorite places in the world. Burnett's mound is the tallest point in Topeka, KS. and was (from what I've been told) created by the remaining rubble pile at the foot of a glacier at the end of the last Ice Age. Might be why I don't like the cold so much. The mound's namesake was a local Potawatomi Chief by the name Abram B. Burnett. Check out: www.kshs.org for more info about this amazingly colorful local Indian Chief!

My love for the cosmos and all things space influenced this painting. I couldn't think of a name for this painting and my mom looked at it and said; "I see the man in the moon". Obviously, the name stuck.

This painting was inspired and painted just after the death of Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong in August 2012. Mr. Armstrong's son had made a simple but beautiful request that the next time you look at the moon, wink at it for dad. I painted this moon scape at my sister and brother-in-law's farm in Tecumseh, KS on August 31, 2012. on the second "Blue Moon" - (the second Full Moon in one calendar month).
